At Children’s Wisconsin, we know that it is just as important to take care of our mental and emotional health as it is to take care of our physical health. It is key for students of all ages to understand what makes a healthy mind and how a healthy mind contributes to all of our health and well-being. That’s why we created Healthy Minds 1st Grade, part of a continuum of mental and emotional health e-learning courses for K-8 students. In this age-appropriate, teacher-facilitated course projected on a SMART board or other interactive projection system, students will learn how to tell what they are feeling, how to manage their feelings, what healthy relationships look like, the importance of talking to trusted adults, and how to show respect, care, and concern for themselves and others. As they move through the program collaboratively as a class, first grade students will view short online lessons, engage in offline activities, learn a fun song, and play educational games that give them the opportunity to review what they have learned.
