A concussion is a type of mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) that happens when there is a bump, blow, or jolt to the head or when there is a hit to the body that causes the head and brain to move rapidly back and forth. The process of getting an injured student back into the classroom without making symptoms worse is highly individualized and referred to as Return to Learn.
Our Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic team at Children’s Wisconsin has developed a process for schools to follow and provided adjustments that can be made to help support the student as they recover.
